there's only a few MIDI drum controllers that will do what you wish for John.
Check out the drumKAT

Check out the 3.8 and the Turbo .....
I do alot of triggering of note and chord sequences from this box using the alternate function. you can easily program your note sequence an have the drummer trigger each note in a free form fashion ....
Hope this helps !!!

Chris

You didn't say if you were mac or PC, but if you're on a Mac the clipFillMode of my program controlAid will do exactly what you want very easily. And it's free.
Basically you would just put each note in a clip. Assign the clips to be triggered by a sequential notes (a1, a#1, b1, c1, c#1). clipFillMode will increment the note that you send to it. So if you send it a1 repeatedly with a pedal press, the first time it will output a1, the second time it will output a#1, the third time it will output b1 etc.
You can set the number of clips you want it to loop through and when it reaches this number it will go back to outputting the original note and starting the process all over again.

energy xt. anything like this for mac? control aid is great and i use it a lot (thanx charlie) but for sequencing 1 song takes such a along time clip by clip, and doesn't leave room for improvising as explained by machinate in energy xt.
