"Favourite plugins" folder needed

Post by Shane 54 » Fri Dec 23, 2005 3:57 pm

I have alot of plugins installed, and I had an idea:
Instead of scrolling back and forth every time to find your desired plugin, how about the ability to drag them into a "vst favourites" folder - it could have a dedicated button just like the ones for plugin / live devices browser - so ifinding stuff would be easier.

I'd love to have this in Live, what do you guys think?

Cheers

Can't you just make a folder in your plugins directory called "Favourites" and have your favourites installed in there?

yes, easiest way is to make a directory structure under your "VST custom" folder and categorize your VSTs and FX however you like.

works great

Sorry there's a misunderstaning here, I probably couldn't make my point clearly:
I was thinking about a way (like Live Clips do with wavs) to make some kind of 'aliases' of the plugins, so no need for reinstalling, copying or whatever method to get them in there. just drag them into the browser. If my memory serves me well Sound Forge has a feature like this. When you use it, no need for scrolling down huge menus of installed plugins to get to Waves Ultramaximizer...

why not just use live clips... make a folder called favorite plugins and save a live clip with no midi note data. just a blank midi clip with the plugin in it. name the clip with the name of your plug and you're set...
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

you can also drag the presets into any folder you like (ie, drag into one of the three folder icons below plug icon , drag to folder) , maybe that would sort you out ?

spaeking of sound forge with plugs + waves, i made a bunch of subgroupings of waves effects so that i'm not always forced to go through that long ass drop down..

i do this:

WAVES > eq
WAVES > reverb / delays
WAVES > compression
WAVES > restore
etc..

that sorta thing -- works well :)
