What I'm trying to do is, for example, is whenever I drag an Operator instance to a new track, the same knobs on the BCR control the same parameters in Operator. So in essence, I'd have a default Operator that I can use in any track, and know in advance which knob alters which parameter? Possible?

just put a track with operator in your default template....if you dont need it for a particular track just delete it or turn it off and collapse the track

..if you need a new operator save the preset drag in a new opperator load the preset and move the clips...

i have 2 pages of my bcr assigned to opperatior(controlls like 99% of it)

1 page is all 7 envelopes (the 4 oscilators are on the grouped encoders on the top)

the other page is everything else...

ahhh but the mackie emulation is sweet!!!!

That's the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks Mike. I'll set up an Operator track in my default template, and assign my knobs and save. I'm happy with that bit. But you lost me with, "..if you need a new operator save the preset drag in a new opperator load the preset and move the clips... ". Could you elaborate a little bit on that plz?

By the way, I resent being called lazy. I'm just a bit dense!

density is okay i'm a little spacy myself

if you need to use a new operator and want to use the operator that you have previously mapped simply

save the patch you are using as a preset
open a new instance of operator
load the preset you just saved
move the midi data into the new track
presto: you can get back to using the assigned operator for your new patch

I had a BCR and I tried the Mackie Emulation referenced in this thread. It worked "sometimes", but after a while stopped responding. I sold the BCR.

Midi / Key mapping in Live is great for some things. But, if you want to set up "flying faders/knobs" for mixdown, you need "two way" control surface support which mapping will not give you.

Can anyone tell me how well the BCF works with the built in Mackie Emulation mode? I just can't see spending $1K on a Mackie Control...

Thanks.

enzymex, i use a bcr2000...when i map automation via recording moves or on the arrangement window by drawing envelopes, the bcr led's follow every move made upon playback...
thus, "flying knobs".....so, i don't understand what you're missing....

D K,

Thanks for posting. Like I said, I sold the BCR, but just out of curiosity, what mode did you use, and how did you set up the routing to get the knobs to update values on playback, without actually loading a Mackie emulation?

P.S. I listened to some of your music - I enjoyed it a lot. Very original and interesting!

wow, thanks for listening.
i use it in mode 3, i believe,(been a while since i changed anything in it's setup) via usb.
in live 4 you had to hit system update in preferences for every set, with no automation output, but
in version 5 there's auto update, so as long as you are using usb in send/recieve mode it works automatically (thanks to ableton for listening to our requests and making this happen!).
i'm really digging the bcr so much i might get another one!
cheers
