Laptop Bags

Post by DISUYE » Wed Dec 28, 2005 11:46 am

What are the options? Specifically with DJs & performers in mind, gear pockets, etc... not office or simple courier bags.

Web links please - many thanks,

Dan

I heard the Ableton NerdBag is pretty cool - holds laptop+triggerfinger+ext. hard drive+psus etc.
mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.

Check out the "Darter" laptop bag from Animal. I can't leave a full URl as the whole site is Flash.

Go to animal.co.uk then click mens -> productgs -> luggage -> advanced -> code LU308

I just picked one of these up and its great.

That's the one I use, fits my laptop, soundcard, headphones, PCR-m1 controller, plenty of demo CD's, and pretty much all the rest of my DJ gear with room left over.

I hear Burton makes good laptop bags as well.

Targus 17" Laptop Backpack

Holds everything I need.

Laptop, Soundcard, MIDI controller, Wires, Mouse, etc....

It fits in the overhead compartment on the plane... and counts as your "personal item", which means you can still bring a carry-on bag with you on USA flights.
M-Tech D900T laptop, 17" WSXGA+ wide-screen, Intel Pentium 4 3.4 GHz HT (600 series) 2 MB cache, 2048 RAM (Dual Channel DDR2 PC4200 533 MHz), Dual hard drives: 80 gig x 2 = 160 gig SATA 5400 rpm (RAID 0 config)
Korg Zero 8 mixer/soundcard/MIDI

Thanks for the above; these are all backpacks.

Sorry, when I said "no courier bags" I meant the ones you get free when you buy an IBM :) ... UDG make a good courier bag; any alternatives to that from other manufacturers? Just trying to see as many of the obscure options as possible before getting a new bag.

Thank again guys - appreciated,

Dan

If you want to have more then the laptop and 2 octave controller get tennis bag. I can pack notebook, microKontrol, Ozonic, Faderfox and Korg MX and am still allowed to take it onboard (it is withtin allowed dimensions). The termo insulation that they use for them is a bonus.
Only problem is they are mostly rather ugly, carnaval kind of colors. I finally found one very fancy black nappa leather, originally was 300 Euro, got it, just like new, for peanuts on Ebay
