2006 is a new year - hopefully with a resolution to bring back support for Sampletank in Ableton Live products. This problem has been on the back burner since 5.0 was released. Please see poshook's post below for details:

Sampletank 2 issue not corrected in 5.0.3 Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad
description:
Midi track with Sampletank2 stop responding and it is not possible to revive it with other VSTi (until restarting Live). After this bug Live5 usualy show bug report and crash imediately.
I sent description of this bug several times to your support without answer.
I am sad because I must using Live 4 instead of my Live 5 (it is more than 4 months). Live 4 has no problem with ST2... Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

sampletank problem workaround
I have been trying to find a fix for this as well.. I had all other previous versions of LIVE so was able to switch back to 5.0.1 from 5.0.2 where my crash occured. tried uninstalling 5.0.2 and reinstalling... no luck anyway until then if you have 5.0.1 that might be a workaround so that you can get off LIVE 4. But yeah I'd like a fix.

All production versions of Live 5 do not work properly with any version of ST I have (1.04, 2.0.5, 2.0.7, 2.0.9, 2.1). I have tested these on my Dell Laptop with Echo Indigo, my studio desktop with Emu 1820m, or on my old PC with MOTU 828 MkII. I have tested on XP SP1 and XP SP2. Can you tell I am in the PC business?
Sure, some ST/Live combinations crash outright and some don't, but none record / play audio from multiple ST outputs without locking up one or more individual MIDI tracks over time.
No problems with ANY Sampletank version in Sonar or Project 5, by the way.
Workaround #1: Compose in Live 4.0.4 then render ST tracks to audio. Then open up Live 5 and continue.
Workaround #2: Load Sampletank in a rewire slave like Project 5. Rewire to Ableton Live. Expensive if you don't own another rewire host supporting VST's in slave mode, but it works.

sampletank
Do any of you know if is there anyway to reinitiate live 5 after this type of problem. Do I have to trash all preferences and reinstall live 5? (I have the cd's for 4 and paid for the downloadable upgrade) Personally I don't give a crap about using sampletank any longer.. I'm getting kontakt 2 but I was hoping to get LIVE 5 up and running again. none of the updates will work. I still had 5.0.1 working slightly although it is crashing a lot and getting more and more glitchy so at some point in the near future live 5 will be utterly unusable for me. 5.0.2 v where crash initially happened and any later update WILL NOT OPEN period.
Any thoughts will be helpful.
