I was watching "Willow" on my neighbour's 30GB ViPod the other night and I thought, yeah, in a mobile situation that's actually quite do-able.

My 4th gen 20GB is still less than a year old so it'll be a while for me. It's a great thing though, not having to hunt through CDs, listening to mixes of my own tracks as they are in development etc.

There was no question which model to get when I bought mine.
I filled up my 60 gig iPod in the first load session.

I wish there was a 500 gig iPod.

The iPod also has problems with large files. If you get a file over 2.5 hours, it sometimes will have problems. I have had to keep some of my longer sets separated into parts because of this.

All in all, I like the iPod. But I still can't stand iTunes. Worst media player, ever. I have no use for the store, because they don't have much in the way of progressive/house, etc...

Anyone have experince with an italk adaptor for recording of a soundboard... It gives ipods a mic, speaker and linein jack. I was thinking of recording my shows with it... its cheap too, amazon for $20

any word about the battery life of the new 30g video ipods? im sick of carrying my 1995 panasonic discman which skips unless you wrap it up in a scarf and hold it sideways.
if the battery life is good i'm there.

I own a 4th gen 30g photo ipod. I love it. I use it up to 9 hours a day. I have it hooked into an adapter in my cd changer input of my car stereo, I listen to it all day at work and use it as a usb disc. I don't really use the photo option, and I have only contemplated bying the 60g for the space on the drive. I am getting a firewire cable soon so that i can make the ipod a bootable disc for my laptop. I have seen the Zen and it is cool too, my dad has one. regardless of what you choose, you can't deny how cool this technology is. I couldn't imagine holding my entire cd collection in the palm of my hand just 5 years ago.

If you don't like itunes, check out the software at www.redchairsoftware.com. It uses windows explorer, and it only costs $15. It also works on multiple machines.

Wow... didn't know the iPod video had S-Video output with the dock.

That's a MUCH better option as my DJ/VJ backup than a DVD player.

Sold!

are there any issues with the ipod, paticularly the 30gig that i think i'm upgrading to that one should know about?

also, how are songs organized on the ipods, are they in folders or what and can you organize them from the ipod itself, or do you have to do it from the computer?
