VST always receives on midi channel 1

Post by MRKisThatKid » Fri Dec 30, 2005 3:31 pm

I cannot get live to send notes to my vst instruments on any other midi channel than 1. When I change the midi channel on my keyboard live does receive it on the correct channel, I know this because on the channel drop-down the correct meter lights up on key presses, but the VST's always think i'm still using channel 1.

I've tried this with both kontakt and battery 2 and it means I can't use the multi-stick feature of battery, nor have more than one instrument in one instance of kontakt.

Any ideas?

hey, welcome to the forum!
Afaik, the midi channel onto which the vst plugin is loaded always handles midi as if it's channel 1.
Here's how to access a different channel:
Create a new midi track, set it to input from your keyboard, channel 2. Set the output to Kontakt, and the lower midi output drop-down to channel 2.
mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.
