Freely assignable MIDI CC LFOs and Envelopes.

Post by reptar » Sun Jan 01, 2006 12:13 pm

A friend and I were thinking the other night, it would be great if in the midi fx there was an lfo and an env that could be assignable to midi cc or a parameter in Live's plugins.

Basically they would act like a thru box, but add the data as it passed. The env could be triggered by note on or midi clock.

This would be great cause I love doing quasi-wavetable stuff with simpler, and it would be great to have an envelope to modulate the start point instead of having to sweep it by hand. I'm sure people would think of a million uses for it. It'd also add a whole lot of functionality to people using hardware synths with Live.

What do you think?

the best way to get LFO's and envelopes now is to use the clip envelopes. with the write curves you can easily make LFO-type modulations. that said, i think a midi-FX LFO would be sweet. i thought that about an arpeggiator in v4 and they delivered, so lets keep out fingers crossed!

Yeah, I use the clip envelopes for slow lfos and stuff that needs to be synced but drawing in seperate envelopes for each note of a whole song gets pretty tedious.
