I like your evolution..

The new features seems to be unique, Ableton style

It's more creative that to get VSTi !! (for vsti rewire is enough)

agreed!!! some really nice new features in this update. i'm still on 1.5.2 (btw, where is this 1.5.3 some folks mention? can't remember ever coming across a dl for this one...) and didn't really bother making the step to version 2, but this upgrade is well worth the extra 9900 cents.

midi is still on my main wish list though (don't really care about vsti support, midi is fine enough... vsti seem a degradation of sound quality to me) but it's not a show stopper. ableton live has just completely changed my way of making music. and with this upgrade things will only get better (read 'more fun')

my only comment... i've been using creamware pulsar for more than two years now. since then, we had three major upgrades for this platform without being charged once! ok, CW have other ways to get their money (although at a time it seemed quite problematic), but still... the 1.5 > 2 upgrade... euhmm.
sorry,

yes, ableton rules, and i'll support (again) by getting Live 3 as soon as the first possitive reports come in. (have doing enough beta testing lately :P )

do you ever perform live with Live? If so I'd love to know what app you're using to rewire your vstis--because with the exception of Reason(no vstis), I don't think there is a rewire partner to Live anywhere near stable enough to perform live in front of an audience . Thus, rewire is not enough for live performance with vstis, plain and simple. With a program called Live, it would be nice to be able to rely on it for everything live in a performance. Reason works well for some things, and I've done scores of gigs with both running and no problems, but I'm hankering for things that neither app offers, and still think it would be awesome if everything was in Live. Live's purpose and reputation is that of a stable live performance software--thus adding other rewired programs into the mix live on stage is flirting with disaster--I'd dare say NONE of those programs were intended for live performance, except maybe reason (at least it works). Does anyone really gig with live + logic, live + Project5, or live + cubase--I'm doubting it.

Are they really stable enough, low latency enough, glitch, static and pop free to perform for 3 hours a night in front of audiiences with variable and changing musical content, with lots of Live tracks (9-12) and effects? I know they can work together well in the studio and on paper, but is anyone really gigging with live + logic running on one computer and having night after night of NO problems??? I have yet to read or hear about anyone doing this. Again, I know things can work on paper and in the studio, but on stage is just not the place for crashes, glitches, pops, and unacceptable latencies caused by high cpu strain from multiple apps. Does anyone out there feel any rewire combo of Live + whatever is as stable as Live + Reason (which I have had NO problems with on stage)???

Apparently, you don't know the difference between ReWire and VSTi. Please do some research before you post.

i have tried on xp pro P4 2.4 laptop with RME multiface--P5 no good, cubase sx 1.01-nada. Sonar 2.2--not if you don't want ridiculous latency. I guess I was hoping to see if others perform live with rewire with rock solid reliability--sound like its the macs so far (but no osx for you, right?)

I know that when i'm using Logic on a laptop mac os X with Live rewire slave, I can use my Vsti & my live clips with midi controllers under Logic

I'm more enjoy to see first, new edit features, as the controllers, samples edit, samples in ram, instead of a basic vsti incorporation..

& if you get some troubles with Rewire, you can use 2 applications just in synchro midi clock mode .. so It's not a big deal if Live 3 don't support VSTi yet!!!

Logic + Live Os X very stable. Never crashed. When I run on Os 9, one crash by day.

please mister m... keep it civilised. who's the idiot if you whine about vsti if you don't have a host for it, but still bought ableton live? you would be really stupid, as everybody knows there is no vsti support for live (yet?). you may kindly ask for vsti/midi support, and maybe we will get it.

i run live on a windows laptop mainly (although i get more than reasonable performance on my old mac G3 450Mhz as well), but rather see the people only working in osX happy, so we can ALL move on, to perhaps an audio/midi/vsti Live that works great.

Fair enough, I just dont like poeple assuming that everyone has live, reason + some other daw. I love live because it lets me work the way i have always wanted too, I am not an idiot using vsti and nopt having a hoste by the by, I use absynth and record my playing using its internal recorder, and record other soft synths using audio hijack in osx and then use the loops and sounds in live but would love to do it all in live so please, do not jump to conclusions. I have no desire to purchase logic/cubase or similar just to get vsti support , a tad overblow dont yuo think? Why then does everyone who says they dont need vsti in live have cubase or logic and a supercomputer to run it all on?

I am also chuffed with the lates update, the envelopes will give me a "parameter lock" like on a mahine drum which is something i have always drempt of

ok, to end this slightly heated discussion, maybe this will answer your needs a lot cheaper than the big boys for vsti support and rewire...
