That is too bad. I was sort of hoping that it would like some star trek era utopian society that travels on wheeled robotics and gives flattering yet insightful responses inbetween sips of earl grey...

Guess once I get up to speed I'll have to help influence them with some contageous 'ol propper etiquette, ableton-style.

That's such a dissapointment- really. Maybe it's in a direct corelation to how annoying their post list is setup. I would be aggrivated as well if I had to sift through 500 of the same posts that the hundreds of confused 30-day-trial-ers just to get to some sort of meat (or legumes.) Still, even if they have an archaic communication structure (which I suggested to them months before deciding to purchase anyway) there is no excuse to attack the potential minds that want to share their effort.

OK, the guys at Plogue (Bidule) are extremely friendly and I don't feel like building custom interfaces for live art right now, although I realize MAX is powerful etc - I'll stick to Bidule and maybe someday try to do some Reaktor core stuff.

Its true, I was praising the knowledge collected at the Max list, only days ago.

But Ive quickly seen (especially when compared to the relative tameness of this forum) that knowledge breeds contempt for those less knowledgable.

I have been utterly flabergasted by the pure gutter tripe that has poured onto that list in the past 24 hours to 3 days. And most of it is from only a couple people.

There are some really good souls on that list, but most of them are really elitist douchebags.

Im going to stay over here, from now on, honestly.

max list and computo

Post by JJHP3 » Thu Jan 05, 2006 1:33 am

Recently this is guy has been a real jerk on the Max list, which is a fine and helpful group. To call "most of the max list elitist douchebags" gives us all an indication of this fellow's mindset. Watch out for him on this list... we're a postitive community aren't we?

Allow me,

"most of it is from only a couple people. "

"There are some really good souls on that list"

True, I used some extreme language, and probably shouldnt have said "most".

maybe I should say, some. Certainly "most" of the users, hardly even contribute or do anything but read the list. your quote would have been more accurate, I should have said IT.

But I have done nothing questionable on the max list. In fact, I asked what something did, and was SHIT on, for not googling it first. Real trouble making...Real Jerky, huh?

truth is, the max list is fine, just dont go asking questions, or someone may think you're a jerk.

Actually, I would have to disagress with you regarding the MAX email list.
I have found it to be extremely helpful. The people on the list offer
lots of tips and information when it comes to solving problems.
It has saved me from a lot of suffering. Anyone that uses MAX should be
on the MAX email list, it is a great resource.
