how to turn off PDC

Post by dusted william » Sun Jan 08, 2006 3:36 am

I am working on a song that has a bunch of UAS plugs going on.

I think...hey I need to add a synth line to this.

I "unpower" all the plugs that cause latency so I can acutally play without much latencly (this works in other apps), but in LIve5 the latency stays.

So then I go to Options->and uncheck "Delay Compensation"

The latency is still there.

Is there away to get Live5 to stop it's latency when you want to play?

thanks,

dw

mak sure your soundcard and your audio settings latency in your prefrences are set up right and that you have your soundcard set up properly with low latency drivers

Live itself should cause minimal latency. The problem, then, must be with your soundcard. Try to decrease sample size to decrease latency. I use a 128 sample size and only have a 2-4ms of latency delay.
The other option would be to set your latency compensation delay correctly and after arming your track to record, turn monitoring off and listen to your instrument through your interface ("direct monitoring").
Read the manual (page 116-117) and also the tutorial within Live on setting up latency compensation.
