triggerfinger agony

alright, i'll just start this off by apologizing up front for asking a question that has been undoubtedly answered here before. i really did try to search for the answers that i'm looking for, and i wasn't successful. this could have something to do with the fact that i've been banging my head against the wall for 3 hours trying to make my tf talk to impulse, and i'm feeling a little out of it right now.

secondly, i've been going back and forth between the live 5 manual, ableton live 5 power, and the triggerfinger manual for the entire duration of this ordeal, so i'll own up to being an idiot, but not to having failed to make an effort by rtfm.

i started off by trying to get enigma to load the ableton impulse x2 preset. the values that are given on the graphic map correspond to the values needed for the impulse (i.e. c3 - c4, channels 10 & 11), but after the tf and enigma do their little dance, the tf has a different set of values (weird note mappings around the second octave, and channel 3 if i remember correctly).

so, i finally gave up on enigma, and figured out how to manually edit the tf. got it set up properly, sending the right notes on the proper channels. now when i tap the pads, they get all the way to impulse...and do nothing. if i click on the cell with my mouse, kick drum. if i hit the pad, nada.

i am at the end of my fucking rope here. please help me.
