COSM - our latest live proggy breaksy psy set from Aotearoa

Post by COSM » Sun Jan 08, 2006 9:53 am

Kia ora again all you live heads,

Hannah and Tom from COSM here, weve recorded and uploaded our latest live set from the Summer Solstice party.... It was a wicked night... about 1000 very happy and friendly likeminded people in an absolutley stunning outdoor nz valley.

Our set went well, we lost the mixer powercord somehow but found a replacement, and like always we managed to leave behind 3.5 to jack headphone convertors but the djs helped us out with that.

Half way through the set it started to slightly rain (we had no cover) and within seconds there was a group of fellas with a big pop up tent on all sides of us. One of the most well organised events ive been to for a while!

Anyway..its kinda progressive trance into psychedelic breakbeat... have a listen and let us know what ya reckon

Cheers!

Just listening now. Most excellent! I had a nasty Pavlov's dog reaction to what sounded like the Live click metronome in Ghostbusters, tho...

Isn't COSM that Roland techy geeky modelling stuff?

Cheers guys!

Pitch Black your set was also mint as mate whether you think it was or not! Glad to play at a party with you

Beatnick I luved ya set at NY too...you kept the dancefloor moving from shredda into triphop people lapped it up

Hambone1 - yep it is, soon discovered after we called ourselfs COSM. no relation i promise!

sweetjesus - Don't really use fruity anymore....I just figured out how to do everything in live....The only thing I have trouble with is bending midi notes which i could do easily in fruity im sure theres an easy way to do it in live but im still looking

M. Breqs - are you talking about the errr...the synth that goes along with the bassline just after the black eyed peas bootleg? I belive its just munted up majorly with the redux and grain delay set at 90% feedback and messing with the delay time in smalll incriments.. if its the bassline after you mean I added three waves l2 limiters after the synth, alll with the threshhold slider cranked down the bottom, then gave the bassline some reverb but only had about 20% of the reverb coming through, so when the baseline stops the reverb gets picked up and amplified by the limiters and makes that mad electonic zappy sound.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the MP3. I'm a big fan of your last set "Live@Phish&trips" and had it in heavy rotation. Some things came to my mind:

o the great synth corresponding with "Another one bites the dust" at 26:14 is some cents to low.
o in your last set you had some samples about "mega ultra chicken" and a "human milkshake", I loved them, they are missing. Missing as well is the quote where a teacher said, "your son fired something into a CROOOOWD", the crowd was heavy stretched, this sounded great as well.

The rest greatly improved, I have to listen some more times.

Christian
