each core runs at 1.67. You don't measure the power of dual core CPUs by their combined clock speed.nicka wrote:so is the 1.67Ghz the spped of both the processors together or each meaing it runs at 3.34Ghz???

Dell can go FUCK themselves as far as I'm concerned.err_fatale wrote:DELL Inspiron 9400
Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2500 (2GHz/667MHz FSB)
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz (2 Dimms)
100GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 7800
almost identical the dell has a little more power offered and better hard rive speed.........why cant I run windows and OSX on either/or?????????
hmmmm
I switched to Mac just to piss on them.
I'm also a firm believer in the "Down with Win. and up for OSX on Intel chips, vibe" But I'm gonna wait for a couple years till I make another laptop purchase. I don't use a rediculous amount of time based FX simultaniously, so cool! but whatever! at the same time.
But What About Live?
When will there be a Live that's native for these Mactel monsters, i.e. "Universal Application"?

Will also expose Windows for the clusterfuck bloatmonster it is. Mate of mine said he used to get much better performance out of games (in the line of 'good' versus 'not usable') when using WINE (windows API emulation) under Slackware Linux than under actual windows ON THE SAME MACHINE... makes you think, don't it!MarkH wrote:Now that Mactel is here, the only thing seperating users is their preference of Windows or Unix. This fails to make me drool too, I have to say.Sales Dude McBoob wrote:Intel chips... dark grey color... uninspired name... it even looks like a PC.
Whatev!
I like the computers I got. Next time I buy a computer it'll be a Mac, it just won't be anytime soon.
It's welcome news for sure.

i could care less if its windows or MAC I have been using Windows and my friends mostly all use MAC the most important part of the equation is LIVE running on a fast machine, I could really care less either way. My personal chioce for using "PC's" is because of the power I get for my money, i.e. fast notebooks at affordable prices.......I'm also a firm believer in the "Down with Win. and up for OSX on Intel chips, vibe"
Please don't suck me into a stupid MAC vs. Windows debate, it's like Christians and Muslims arguing about who's GOD is better......PEN vs. PENCIL......etc.etc.etc.
many of you MAC people seem a bit overly insecure and aggressive about trying to force your whole MAC ideology doen everyone else's throat, for years MAC people have been like this, as if your music isn't valid unless you make it on a MAC.....as if you feel intimidated by PC users and the advancement of PC technology threatening your cozy little nest in your imaginary ivory tower.....all delusion...most of you are just END USERS like most PC users are and are simply fiddling around with someone else's creations/hard work and taking all the credit
It's complete rubbish. Get a life. Or a girlfriend, you need a little booty to relieve some of that pent up anger you got there....

with a few of those myself, I can relate to this 'lack of excitement' !!rpsx wrote:so, any other hammerfall dsp users a bit less excited? no pcmcia. figured, okay, i'll go for the fireface 800... of course, no FW800 either. oops... guess they didn't mean pro music with that pro label there. maybe on the next one?
But surely RME will (at some point in the not-too-distant-future) release an "ExpressCard™" version of their cardbus harware? Probably when Apple releases their 17" version of the beast, and Ableton has a binary that really works optimized for MacTel.
Until then, I will wait.... The 20" iMac sure looks sweet for home use, though.

Some of us use the machines on the road for more than just music. I love my Dothan 2.0 GHz for many things, but it's far easier to run a full development web server, open source middleware and SQL databases on a souped-up Unixed Mac, or do some on-the-fly video editing with FCP.err_fatale wrote:It's complete rubbish. It's not about the hardware (I have both), but the apps you need to run.
Not everything is cross-platform.
Please refrain from making blanket statements as above; or at least, say "In My Opinion"....otherwise, it can come off as very superficial. Many of us have more of a life that's you'd imagine, regardless of which CPU we use.
