It's real shitty not to be able to view a grid as reference when drawing in automation curves. Makes no sense whatsoever.
This is a no brainer, the lack of a grid will either not matter to people or it is a complete pain in the rear end. I can't think of any possible instance when it would be an advantage not to have a grid.
So come on! Bring back the grid!!

word. I think it is okay for ableton to do their minimal thing IF they make these drastic changes OPTIONAL. Like taking away the buss view after version 3--why? It is so useful and was not in the way at all--one tiny icon. Or removing the I/O from the arrangerview in version 4--WTF? Or totally effing up the midi "select on launch". Or drastically changing scrubbing forever but not giving an option for 3 style scrubbing. Or removing the preset names from the devices--????? Or ten other removals of features that THEY introduced, got us used to using them, then up and take them away in a new version. I appreciate their "tidyness" or whatever, but removing features people use without at least giving us an option to use them is pretty annoying. I'm still stuck using 3 for my sets because of the midi select on launch issue, though I sure would love to benefit from the feature and effects in 5! In apps like Photoshop, being able to hide/show a grid and being able to snap to it or not are just taken for granted as a normal thing to want to do. Why can't we have preferences for this sort of thing?Mike Goodwin wrote:I am not trying to be an ass or to tell others what to like but i for one like that the grid is removed when I am not using quantize. but that is just me.
