Master tempo range problem?

I must be doing something wrong. I assign a midi cc (tried fcb1010 and pcr-30 both) to the master tempo (upper left project tempo), set the range in the master track, and the tempo still goes from 60-200 when I turn the knob. Am I missing the intended function of the range?

Assuming you're on v5:
When you're assigning the knob look at the bottom of your screen rather than in the master track. You can set the min/max values of your knob there.
