Novation A-stations are a bit of a bargin at the moment at www.dawsons.co.uk

it's only one channel but it's a bit of a beast for £139!!!!!!
I'm liking the Behriger BCR2000 too.
and the Faderfox modules.

Also as DK said, a decent set of speakers and a decent amp will work wonders for your music.

right now I'd have to say ROZZBOX!
http://www.rozzbox.de/
560 Euro.
It's expandable, and It has just about every routing in the world in there: http://www.rozzbox.de/rb2specs.htm

All the details will be available on the 30th.

A Dave Smith Mono Evolver. Digital/analog hybride synth with real analog oscillators and filters and tons of routing options. Monophonic only though. USD 500.

Dave Smith designed the Prophet 5 and Korg Wavestation among others.

SH101 or Reaktor (I know you said hardware but R5 kicks ass.)

i would buy a nice quality channel strip or compressor. something from Toft or Universal Audio.. which pretty much will assure you that it wont go 'out of fashion' or get superceeded by the latest dsp craze in another few months.

edit: and it will add value to your existing sound generating devices.
