When can we expect Universal Binary builds of LIVE?
When can we expect Universal Binary builds of LIVE?
also... will LiVE function under Rosetta?

found this on the apple website about rosetta
Pro applications from Apple — including Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Aperture, Logic Pro, Logic Express, and Final Cut Express — are not supported by Rosetta. For these applications, you can upgrade to the Universal version for minimal cost (see “Apple Applications” to right). Third-party applications that require precision real-time playback may perform better with a Universal version. For the expected arrival dates of Universal versions of third-party applications, check with their manufacturers.

I reckon it shouldn't be too long before Live is kicking it on both platforms, they never went down the Altivec road, wheter that was a good thing or not is now irrelevant, the two platforms are now running on the same family of processors.
I think it's going to work out really good for all of us, now that we CAN compare Apples & Pears

Ableton have said before that the app wasn't optimised for either platform, ie no Altivec and no SSE.
Well, I'm guessing that means they didn't use any SSE optimisations, but they now have the incentive to develop a nice library that will benefit us all.
I'm looking forward to that update, as it doesn't even require me to buy a new computer, even my old desktop would see a speedboost with some SSE2 optimisation in Live

yes i would like to hear more details about this. like, where did you get a developer intel machine, and did you just randomly decide to start running other software on it?hujib wrote:Good to know! ..although surprising.ultraschall wrote:Live is working under Rosetta. I tested it on the developer machine sent by apple. performance was quite good and is expected to improve with the nu imac or macbook
That's funny!
