martin808,
how do i check the memory. I cant open task manager for some reason?? ctrl-alt-del isn't working either. very strange. is there another way to check
Try to enter "taskmgr" at the command prompt or search for "taskmgr.exe". It should be located in "C:\Windows\system32".

justin,
what interest me is when you load the same Live set as well how much RAM is needed then from Live 5.0.2 and from Live 5.0.3b6. You can see this in the "Activity Monitor" utility from OS X.

/Alex

Try to make a research on the web for this error message. For some reason a program does not allow to use the taskmanager which normally no serious program should do. You should try if your computer is not affected by a virus or some spamware.

could you let me know how much physical and virtual RAM Live needs when you open such a set in Live 5.0.3b6?

alex,

in task manager:

system cache -- 312084 (changes every time i quit and open again) but close
2nd time opened was --226684

cpu bounces from 4-8%

Live 5.0.2:
Processes Tab --> 154, 564 K
Performance Tab:
Physical Memory
Total -- 1047024

Hello,

I'm using 5.0.2 demo, I get spikes just playing my guitar (not recording) with 1-2 VSTs. P4 3GHz, 1GB RAM. Unfortunately but reassuringly other people have the same problem. I was going nuts!

Hi Alex,

I had the same problem with Live5.2: CPU spikes at the first launch for some audio or Midi clips - allways on the same clips and no clear link between them or between the Fx configuration on the related tracks.

I tried the 5.3b6 version and it seems that the problem disappeared: it was heard on 5 of my sets. No more problem now.

So is this behavior always reproducible in Live 5? Everytime you play certain clip in some certain tracks you get this high CPU usage?

I have just today started experiencing this on all my sessions.

It's not critical at the moment, but was wondering if anything has been
discovered?

basically i am playing back loops (no effects or anything) just loops
triggering the next scene cause cpu spikes of up to 180% ??
and audio glitches when this happens.

on all the sessions i have been working on...

weird.

i reformated the audio drive and move all the data back on to rule
out hard drive issues.

Let's not forget this thread and the problem either. How are things coming along Ableton! Any news on improving this!
