I'd love it if it was $80, but I don't see the asking price as being way out of line compared with other soft synths. IMO it goes well beyond a simple 303 emulation. I sure don't see it as being worth a lot less than Operator, for instance.Johnisfaster wrote:it sounds great but the price they are asking is about 100 bucks too much in my book.

I love the sound of this thing and I already own ABL, but the Pro's CPU hit is too much.
I couldn't use this if it was free.
I've never seen a VST that sucked 10% of my CPU (Athlon 64-3700) just for having the GUI open.
I almost cried when I heard the patch from Carl Craig's Climax. Very nice.
I sure hope ABL Pro gets some better efficiency in the next version.
I'd also like to see the presets be selectable from the Ableton GUI.

Back to this question. Can you stop it from within your DAW?.....they both continue to run in DP also until I actually press stop in Bassline.peeddrroo wrote:so after a couple of days of playing, i must say that it really does sound good. deep and sharp.
worth every single cent.
plus it seems that it was conceived to be controlled by the BCR2000. almost the same number of knobs and buttons, and a similar layout.
i'll try to send a preset for the BCR.
bjorn, i have a question: once the internal sequencer is launched, it seems that pressing the space bar in Live doesn't stop it.
i always have to click the Run/Stop button on the ABL pro GUI. is that normal?
thansk for the help.

You gotta love rocking plugs for less than $100

a
WTF it's $247.64 AUD in their Shop area for OZ purchases
Screw that for a laugh.
It does make for a rather nice compact modular synth though.
If it had been double that price with a USB Controller ala Korg's MS20 Controller
(but not Microsized) with actual patch leads and programmable from that USB controller that would have been different all together IMHO.
My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....
Ok....
The ABL Pro sequencer is controlled by note's. C-2 is pattern 000.....
So you start and stop it with a clip actually. Same behaviour as ABL.
The sequencer stops if you press Live's stop button twice thoug (i think).
About the cpu issue... Either lower the voices. Or use another patch.
It will be optimized. But it uses no more CPU then other decent virtual synths like minimonsta or the korg legacy.

well, it seems that the problem is only occuring when running patterns on the ABL Pro Fx unit.hoffman2k wrote:So you start and stop it with a clip actually. Same behaviour as ABL.

when used as a VSTi, it works fine (as ABL): pressing space bar runs and stops the ABL Pro sequencer correctly.
you are right about the fact that pressing the stop button twice stops it though.
so bug or not?
yeah, thanks, i already went through that, as i am running patterns on the ABL Pro FX unit.hoffman2k wrote:Ah the fx version...
Make another miditrack.
Send midi to ABL pro fx on whatever track you have it running...
Guess what happens next
the problem is that these patterns won't stop when i stop Live.
i've posted that on the audiorealism forum. let's see what they say...

I guess that's why I don't use decent synthshoffman2k wrote: About the cpu issue... Either lower the voices. Or use another patch.

Turning off the fancy graphics stuff mentioned in the README (that I didn't read) really helps alot.
Yeah. GUI minimized gives you more power. Forgot to mention that little detaildjastroboy wrote:I guess that's why I don't use decent synthshoffman2k wrote: About the cpu issue... Either lower the voices. Or use another patch.

Yeah. thats why you also just can use the dropboxesmosca wrote:you have to sit back, digest that, realise the complete and utter waste of time it was to program that 'feature' and then say - why?But they dangle when you shake the GUI.
what possible use could that have?
I would actually prefer some kind of routing matrix.
Somebody will make one eventually. It's fully skinable.
The dangling is cool with the inverted fiber-optic cables skin though.
