Live Freezing - Posted in general as well

Post by rentanutta » Fri Jan 20, 2006 3:48 pm

Hi

I am new to Live, having made the switch from Reason 3 ( I still use reason, but have to say I find Live easier to use.).

I have however found a problem, when I save the sets that I do, if ever I try to reload them to work on them again, Live just freezes.

As you can imagine, it is very annoying and I really don’t want to think I have wasted my money on a programme that isn’t going to let me save and amend sets.

I don’t think its my memory, as I checked and I don’t even seem to be using a third of the memory I have available, and I have over 300GB left on my hard drive.

Is any one else getting this problem or is it just me???

Any suggestions????

what are your system specs. hell, what OS are you using, are you using windows or mac ?

what version of live are you using , are you using 5.03 ?

what soundcard do you have , how is it connected to your system?

are you using a laptop or a desktop?

have you disabled power management, if its a laptop ?

have you tried turning off all other background processes ?

etc etc, and so on

then email, in detail how you get a crash, to [email protected] and send an ableton save file with it, one that causes the crash

(while I sympathize, these details are essential before anything can be done)

first thing you must try is to temporarily remove the VST plugins folder, and see if your sets load without crashing.
the easiest way to do it is to rename the folder.

if your sets load fine, then try adding the plugins one by one to see which one is the culprit.

henry, please, stop being sarcastic. (joking... )
