My g5 can handle up to 8 gig of ram because of 64 bit technology. This limitation is an arbitrary result of apple putting 8 slots there. If I understand correctly it could handle 2^64bits of ram at once. Now that's a lot audio clips to load in ram!

Bring on the 64bit dual cores (furiously tapping my vein...)
