The 2 big warping issues. Action please.

Post by Co-lab » Tue Jan 24, 2006 3:37 pm

1/Moving Arrangement from 1 computer to another, only to find warp markers have changed position and in some cases the start of the sample (Clip if you like) is missing.

2/Warpmarkers sitting late on the sample (to the right). Confusing as this problem can't be seen until you zoom in fairly close to the wave form.

As far as I can tell, lots of people in this forum and the general one have been having this problem. As far as I can tell it has been addressed by the Ableton team. (it may have, but I can't find it).

Alex, Robert... Whats the word on this issue?

Peace,

DG

Hi,
do the warpmarkers jump to the side at a specific zoom level? Are you using mp3´s recently purchased (320 kB) ?

Hello,

The warp points tend to jump when you zoom up quite close. Yes I have had this problem with MP3s at 320, but also with WAV and AIFF files. From seven minute tracks to one second loops.

Well, never happened with wav´s here, only mp3´s. When I converted them back to wav they where fine.
Could you upload over www.yousendit.com a few short samples for checking on different machines? If they are buggy on other machines then the Abes could perhaps reproduce itb too and fix the bug.

But it doesn´t solve the jumping waveform bug, I´ve already tried with and without quicktime installed and that makes no difference. It happens once files are decoded a second time to wav´s, even when they already have been decoded one time before. Once I open my set at new it redecodes some files another time and voila the shit is there.

ok, yes i know what you guys are talking about in that other thread, its also happened to me

in my case it happened with renders of my own productions that were rendered straight from live and then converted to MP3

switching back to the wav cured it. it hasnt happened often so i never reported it.. but ya ...

Have not yet installed Quicktime, but here is a new example of the warping issue.

Thanks to Ralph for getting back to me on this one.

I encountered the problem in a new way a few days ago. I had a gig on Wednesday night (25/01/06) so I installed some new songs that I had recently purchased from Beatport and Traxsource. I download them on my desktop at 320K and then transferred them to my laptop. I then added the files to my "Vocal House Set" that I have been using for a few months and have been adding new tracks to it every few weeks. I then did all the warping on the new tracks.

Now the problem has been when I have done the set on my Desk Top and then moved it to the laptop. This time I did all the warping, saving in the clip view, etc on my laptop. It all played back in time and I saved it.(Still as "Vocal House Set") I then got the prompt to "self contain the set" Which I did. (it was already a self contained set except for the new tracks)

When I opened my set at the gig all the new tracks had the warping bug and some of the older files I had there were also corrupted (they were all short MP3 percussive loops). The older tracks (full songs) were not corrupted. (Thankfully, as I would not have been able to do the gig)
They were mostly corrupted by the front of the sample missing and the warp markers being out of time. Some of them look like they are in time but when you zoom in on the wave file the frirst beat of the sample "jumps" forward past the beginning of the clip view.

To solve this problem on the fly, If I go to the folder holding the newly corrupted tracks, delete the asd file, then reload the track it is all there and can be re-warped. A lot of work when you are on stage in front of a crowd with a vocalist and a sax player.

Damien.
