Midi Drum off signal too quick after on. - delay possible?

Post by paraplex » Wed Jan 25, 2006 9:19 am

Hi,

I have a midi drum kit, and the midi off signals are sent straight away after the on signal cutting the hit very short (under 10ms i guess). I can make this work in certain samplers that don't cut after the off signal is sent, but sequencers sometimes recieve the off signal too quick to even register a hit. (midi overdub for example)

What I wanted to do is midi translate a hit to a hit followed by a delay of 100ms followed by an off signal.

Is there any way to do this with Bome Midi Translator, or can anyone think of another way around this problem?

Cheers
Lachlan

Maybe a script for MidiOX..... it has an API that can be used in just about
any programming language.

my mate had a similar problem. I believe he wrote some custom software for this - I'll ask him if he'd like to make it available to you, if that's of any interest?

What kind of midi trigger interface are you using? Look carefully for a function called "gate time" and increase that to hold the note on for your longest sample.
