Sasha effect
Sasha effect
Hi all,
now I dont want to start another huge debate on if hes good or not.
Recently, I have been using more and more effects in my live sets, wich got me interested in some of the sounds Sasha generates. Obviously my goal is not to copy him, i'm more or less just interested on the methods that he uses.
Sample 1
Sample 2
I have gone over these samples and tried my best to immitate them, but with not much luck. I know that they wer done live because I was behind Sasha watching him at this show and I saw him move the mane horizontal crossfader on the Maven.
My question to you is, are these sounds created in Live through a combination of effect such as Beat repeat and delay all linked to one MIDI control (the crossfader), or is it a plugin runing in the back ground, if so, what plugin?
Thanks for your help )

Sounded like Supatrigga to me too. Does beatrepeat have the ability to reverse some of the repeats?

as of last year he was using reaktor FastFX in his sends and using the crossfader exactly the way you're describing it. FastFX has a built in "freez" function that i believe can do this, i really havent messed with it much ..
i think as a rule though .. i would avoid using any signature effects that really famous guys are using in exactly the way they're using them.
it can make you seem kind of cheezy i think .. espeically when there are so many other ways to run things. find out how he does it, steal the basic idea then do it your own way

hmmm
first sample i'm 99% sure is supatrigga, that pitched down stopped record effect is really it
sample 2, i'm not too sure sounded a bit too controlled to be supatrigga, more like beat repeat or something similar, kinda easily replicated if you have to
..resist...resist...ah what the heck...sample one is one dire tune..sorry...sorry...

sometimes (when its late at nite and I'm all alone) I make beat repeat really short and stuttery and supatrigga really reversy and slow-downy and trigger them together and then something like that happens. But doesnt it strike you guys how Sarsha always manages to use that effect at what seems to be the most innapropriate times, those samples aren't the first time I've heard him do that on a sort of dreamy vocal, not the sort of thing you would want to be randomizing... or am I over analysing?
Really appreciate the coments guys.
At first I was really leaning towards beatrepeat but as was mentioned, there is a revers and a pitch drop wich kinda stumped me, Im gong to have a look at those other programs and mess with them abit.
As I said above, I really dont intend to copy this style, however im really interested in that pitch drop and revers )
Thanks again guys
