Keyboard Mapping Bug in Live 5

Post by Isomer » Sun Jan 29, 2006 12:37 am

Didn't see anyone mention this one. Curious if you all have the same problem.

In Keyboard Mapping mode, Live 5 allows only certain keys to affectively map to
things. What I mean is, I go in Key Mapping mode, I click on a clip in Live, then a key on my keyboard (it recognizes any key I press at this stage) but then it doesn't actually do anything when i press certain keys.

Foe example, the "R" key on my keyboard can be mapped effectively. But not the "T" key next to it!

This problem does NOT exist if I boot up Live 4 and try the same thing.

This is about to kill me for an upcoming show I have...grrrr...
Live 6.0.3
1.25 GHZ Powermac G4
Mac OSX [10.2.8]
M-Audio Duo
Oxygen 8 Midi Keyboard
Digitech Vocal 300
Fetal Doppler

Check out page 154 of the manual- if you have the "MIDI via keyboard" option turned on (for playing notes from your computer keys), then those particular keys are not available for keymapping. So "R" would be fine, but "T" would be playing an F# note, and thus not assignable.

It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

no, pbajzek is right.

look towards the upper right of your live screen, a few inches in from the right side. look for the little button with a mini-keyboard icon. disable this button
