Is it political or ethical taboo, programming obstacle or a future planned 4,5,6 version option?
Traktor DJ plays bough MP3's an audio WAV, Aiff files with ease..... why not Live

DJ Tractor is more of a DJ tool... most Pro Audio apps do not support MP3 because the quality is not as good as wav or aiff. So Live doesn't need to support mp3, and this issue has been addressed a thousand times already!

arrgh!

Pro Apps don't suport MP3

They convert MP3s to Aiff's or Wav when you import them at (least Nuendo and SX).

They don't support them because you don't have a MP3 "track" in a project file.

Rather expensive to decompress mp3 AND write it to a new file on the fly without causing hicups in the playing audio. Maybe you were looking for the audio software 'Almost Live' - this one is 'Live' so you'll have to clean up your libraries and make them wavs before using.

Course, I can have WinAmp playing mp3s while operating Live...
seems possible.
