who writes this little plugin for live?

Post by smog g » Sun Jan 29, 2006 3:17 pm

we all need the plugin i will explain in the following lines!;:

maybe you know that the resonator plug of live can be a real good vocoder.
unfortunately it doesnt axept midi input so that you can shift the resonator tune up and down with your midi-keyboard-keys.
but theres a little workaround (not only for resonator - for any imaginable
plugin) and it goes like this:

lets say i want to vocode an looping audio clip.
i have this clip in an audio track. the outout is routed to a midi
track, where the resonator is. in this midi track are several midi clips that advise the resonator to change the tune according to the pressed keyboard key. (each clip with different resonator tune setting is assigned to a differend key...)

now the plugin:
to use the resonator in a midi track i use a reaktor ensamble.
the ensamble is the easiest ensamble possible.
it just takes the incoming audio and sends it out again without processing it at all.
it is just used to pretend that there is a midi device, so that the resonator is recepting audio in a midi track.

the desired vsti plugin should do the same.
it should be a vsti plug for midi tracks that routs the incoming audio
to any following vst plug which effects it.
this way you can trigger clips in that midi track which advises the following plugin to do wicked things with the audio.

did you get me?

who will write this plugin?
should be done in a minute,if you know how to do so...
doesnt need any grafix.
call it "the path of live" if you want or any other wicked name :-)

try looking into "dummy clips", it's a lot easier, imo.

Should be a snap to do in Synthedit. Would take 5 minutes or so.

Unfortunately, I don't have Live 5 and neither have I resinstalled Synthedit since I reformatted my machine.

@machinate: the dummi clips do exactly what the plugin does. good tip!
i think the plugin could save some cpu if its written good, and used in several instances (tracks) but i dont know for shure.

@michael-sw: the dummi clips can be used in pre versions of live 5.
and nevermind because of not having synthedit installed. no pressure of time...

so wait, you just want a vst (effect) that sends the input audio to the output? Thats it? If so send me a private message and your email and I'll hook you up. If thats not exactly what you want, uh, send a private message with instructions too and I'll do what I can.

nm, i get what you mean now, i was thinking all stupid like.

i dont know if this uses more or less cpu, both seem to use less than 1%.

you should download http://www.synthedit.com
i think its more fun than reaktor.
also check out http://www.puredata.org
if you wish you had max/msp.

sorry about the megaupload thing :/

no its not a vst effect. i must be vsti, so that it creates a midi track, when pulled into live. its just for hosting other vst fx which can be automated by clips in the midi-track.

could you do that?

Yeah, check the link in my last post, its a vsti instrument. It does what you wanted. Did you already check it? Because it works for what you want to do (here at least).

[edit] this link will dl it, its like 600k or something.

dont think it will work for mac, maby there is some sorta vsti->au wrapper or something floating around. hmm, wonder if there is a au->vst wrapper for pc.

If it is done for a PC, it won't work on a Mac.

There might well be a VST-> AU wrapper (no idea, not on Mac) but it will only work for Mac-VSTs.

damn! that rocks! its working brilliant. i will use it instead of dummy clips.
unfortunately your plugin has no presets :-) (hahaha) but a great interface!
i hope thats a foto of yours. if so, you could come to my home so that i can deliver my thankfullness to you personaly ('')

seriously: thanks for this thing. thats just what i requested. good job.
maybe you should handle it to the kvraudio.com, announced as a special plugin for live (as it is in deed) so that many people can have fun with it.

another thing: does that picture in the plugin take so much ram that it would justifie to demand a plugin without this pic?
