BTW, any improvement on the LX2?

LEDS are not that usefull to trigger clips, only if they are set to gate maybe.

And I already have a keyboard, I only need a lot of switches to trigger clips.

So I think the LX1 is better for me don't you????

I was expecting this gen of faderfoxes to piggyback the mackie control emulation the way the Behringer boxes did. Although I like the upgrades I'll be sticking with my version 1's. Major credit once again to Mathias for all the work gone in thou, he deserves every cent coming to him

Is this what the little ^ symbols beside the red & green LEDs are for? I'm assuming that they guide you in to Live's controller value like a tuning meter while shift is depressed and you move the fader. If so, that's amazing.

if red led is on > the fader is too high and you have to move down
if green led is on > the fader is too low and you have to move up
no light > the fader is in a little window around the LIVE value

the led's show the compares in realtime
so a very fast correction of all fader pos is possible
(for instance after group switching)

you can deactivate this feature in system mode

don't know if i can reduce my tracks to 6 and i really hate switching in between setups in live settings

Not sure if you know about the FaderGroup toggle button...you actually get 6 more when you press it...for a total of 12 faders. I have the LV1 & my fingers sorta bump up against the 8 faders there, so 6 will be right nice.

do you not find that when you are in the moment, mixing clips, that it it's hard to differentiate what channel is doing what? i have this problem all the time, which is why l like to have 'dedicated' knobs for tasks...i have never used the faderfoxes and for all i know, their system works great, but i hate having 1 knob do 2 jobs, and shy away from control boxes that offer this option to me

Exactly.... I reduced my set just not to have to switch between Fadergroups.... it's just too much too think about, for me anyway.

But 6 channels seems reasonable.... reminds me of Robert Henke's controller, which I remember also had 6 tracks.

Depends on your style doesn't it? Personally i like to use crossfaders but I'm sure if i had an LV2 then i'd map a vertical fader to be a crossfader if needed (like i do on my uc33)

Yep, and I assume many people use a midi controller (like Oxygen 8 or Trigger Finger) in addition to their control surface. And these have at least 1 fader on them which can be mapped to the crossfader so you don't have to lose a faderfox fader to it.

I personally don't mind mapping a vertical crossfader. And I must admit the LV1 crossfader is nice to have but can also feel crammed sometimes. I can move it by accident by leaving my hand rest on the faders. The midi jump is not good thing if you want it to remain in the center for most of the set. The increased keymode LED info in the area of the crossfader seems a little more user friendly to me too and better visual feedback what's going on. And that makes for a little less looking at the laptop screen.

I'm not sure if I liked LV2's 3 less faders at first either, but now the ergonomic factor, separate slot/track pots, endless rotaries, and longer joystick are definately growing on me.

I'm also diggin' that little makeshift 1-octave keyboard on the LX2.

i think the reason they cut back from 8 to 6 faders/buttons per row is because they were crampped, if you actually have one it is noticeable and i think with the buttons there are 3 shift keys for each colour totaling over 100 programmable buttons....from what it looks like to me anyway...i also really love the idea of the keyboard at the bottom of the lx2...very good idea...i have an lx1 and i love it....i think i'll get a lx2 now...

i think they're great....and there still aren't any midi controllers this small that offer this much control (even if you don't think about the size they are incredible!!!!!)

Don't get me wrong I think the units are great and the improvements look great. I have struggled with the non continuous pots as I'm constantly swithching between the 3 modes (only for Dj'ing) and it is very difficult to keep track and stop volume leaps etc.

Maybe i use the croos fader a lot more than most who are on this thread, but using a vertical fader just doesn't 'feel' right.

Can't work out how the slot selection will work if you wan't to control the eq etc using the pots at the same time as selecting the slot. Ie: DJ'ing - I would select a slot for the incoming track while turning both pots say 1 & 3 to control the filter or EQ on both tracks. This looks like it's going to be very fiddly on the LV2.

I will more than likely get an LV2 and use it in conjunction with the LV1.

I think I need to construct some sort of platform/bracket so i can place the units above the DJ mixer. At least that way it gets rid of the space issue.

Just did a quick double check after my last post.

I may be being thick here, but I can't see any way to navigate to slots using the LX2.

Am i missing something here !

Hmmm... can't see why you'd want an LV2 over a BCR2000, apart from the size, joystick, and perhaps battery power. The BCR has tons more control, no MIDI interface needed, scrolling LEDs, and probably half the price.

Sure could use an LX2 instead of this MIDI keyboard, though!

i'd like to jump into the chat re-asking what hambone said. What's is so wonderful about the faderfoxes? They seem to have a loyal user base.

For instance, i have a remote 25. What would the faderfoxes add in terms of control? What would be the main difference?

And how about comparing'em with behringer stuff?

Why are them soooo great?
