It is indeed awesome.. And if he uses Live he sure as hell uses a whole buncha other stuff - much of the cool trickery he does in that set can't be done with live - for instance the loop divisions he does - they're unsynced, which kind of suggest a regular looping delay with all the fixins, along with the typical multi-track looping associated with Live.

This is frighteningly close to what I'm going for with my rig, which is slowly but steadily nearing completion. My set is more glitchy, as in IDM, and at the same time I'm definitely staying in the groove a lot longer than mister ADHD Lidell here ;)

VERY cool use of pitchshifter in his setup, by the way - notice at 1:27 when he drops in the bassline!!! 8O

...eek, just realized that the vj I'm working with is doing stuff much like this as well... Gotta take defensive measures to avoid Jamiefication... Oh wait, I already did - I can't sing :D

A while back I got a chance to chat to him for quite a while, well he couldn't shake me off anyway ;)
and like the big geek I am I asked what he used and he told me it was a max patch he wrote about 3 or 4 years ago, apparently it's frighteningly simple and lots of Max heads question him about it but he considers himself a complete novice.

I saw his gig a few nights after this (Liverpool Philharmonic ) and if anything it was better. It blew squarepusher away (he was on the same bill)

Warp promised a Jamie Lidell live DVD a while back, but it hasn't appeared yet, shame.

BTW : Pablo Fiasco on visuals

saw him on the weekend and its indeed his own software.... not live

he was simply amazing.

Used an Mpc, laptop (running his max/msp program) moog, mic, other random keyboards and a whole bunch of talent!

I think Serato scratch Live can do on the fly recording via mic and then can dj and loop from it too.

Saw Jamie Lidell here on saturday night at Revolver in Melbourne

Been a while since a show that was painfully short. Like, it was dope and stuff :)

Really demonstrated the KISS principle

If you want to hear some f*%ked up s$#t, grab a copy of his album before multiply. I think even Warp would have had trouble putting that one out. It's pretty out there...

The guy has a voice that is straight up Motown. He could be playing 10000 seat arenas, and instead he is rocking a smoky little club looping his beatboxing through custom plugins!

as far as I know he uses a MAX patch enabling him to record 8 loops at a time , combined with a lot of live tweaking
