ok, so there's been loads of discussions about usb audio devices (emi 2/6, quattro....).
can anyone recommend an audio/midi device for PCs? As far as I know the midiman Quattro is the main contender (I want to have 2 audio outs - one for master, one for monitoring, and one midi socket for a controller...) - though I've heard alot of bad things about it. Has anyone had a good experience with the Quattro - or another?

I've actually had good luck with my Quattro. With the thread priority set to "high" and my latency set to "very low" I get 12ms latency on the audio input and 11ms latency on the audio output, a total of 23ms latency for processing of live playing. That is not a world record, but very usable. And sound quality and stability at those latency settings are quite good. The MIDI input drivers also work flawlessly.
On the downside, I am having problems with the MIDI output driver sending sysex data to my Digitech PMC10 foot controller. I've sent a query to M-Audio support over a month ago and have received no response. They tout the fact that they are the world's fastest growing musical equipment manufacturer, but that may not be such a good thing.

I have a Quattro and have had mixed results. It hasn't yet worked with Live but Alex (one of the Live guys) has taken the live log and is investigating the problem. That is more than I can say for Maudio, I mailed a request to them a week ago and haven't heard a thing. Their tech support is terrible. Anyway, for the price I think it's a good deal and works well with most software.
