About midi latency bug/tips---i found a solution
I found a workaround with the latency when recording midi:
create one midi track with your midi device in, your vst and monitor set to IN
create another empty midi track with the same device in and monitor set to OFF (no vst required in this track)
Arm both tracks to record and proceed recording.
Your midi clip recorded in the vst midi track will be without latency.
It seem that if live has got one of the recording midi track with monitor to off, this will eliminate latency.
You DON'T have to switch clips between tracks....only be sure to have one empty midi track recording at the same time you are recording your vst clip.
It is really weird...i just recognized this by case yesterday...
Please give a try...
live version is 5.03
thanks

This doesn't seem to work, and I'm not sure why it would. It doesn’t make sense.
Anyways, I did the following, with no results (or the desired results, I should say):
1. Selects WDM drivers on my sound card instead of ASIO.
2.Turned up the latency where it was noticeable, but not ridiculous (15-20 MS of latency).
3. Tried arming 2 midi tracks, one empty and one with a VST. The VST track was set for "Auto" monitor, the empty midi tracks monitoring was turned off.
4. Both tracks were armed for recording.
5. Began recording.
6. It still had latency.
I tried this with numerous other latency settings and I found no difference at all.
So, I don’t think this work around, well, works. Aside form the real world testing that seemed to prove it didn’t; the logic of it doesn’t make sense. Arming an empty midi track isn’t going to correct latency. Latency is caused by too many variables for such a work around, CPU, A/D conversion rates, so on and so forth.
I would like to be shown it works, but real world results and logic dictates it doesn’t seem to.
To bad, it would of helped those with latency issues (luckily not even a remote concern for me anymore).
