Hi,
I want to do some work on the move with Live 5, my Acer laptop (40GB HDD, 1.6 Ghz Processor, 512MB RAM, XP HOME) and an Edirol UA-25 USB Interface.
The problem is that the audio drops out in both record and play back for about 2 seconds in every minute when processor usage is at a mere 2%(i.e. playing one un-warped mp3 track). This is using the ASIO driver in Live 5 and also the standard windows sound driver in Media Player. Initially I tried all of the ASIO buffer sizes - the smallest doesn't glitch initially, but then if you let the test tone run for 5-10 seconds glitches start and continue at random intervals. This is the same case will all other buffer sizes up to max.
Windows is set to give priority to background processes.
When i load an additional software application during playback/record this also causes glitches.
I think that the problem lies with the way the system manages devices on the USB ports. Power management settings?
Can anyone offer any help?
Thanks,
Josh
