Paris!
Not Hilton, the City. I will be in Paris sometime in March, I was curious if any Live Users out there could point me in the right clubs, hip/artsy spots, and record stores. I'm 19 years old, so in LA the scene for me is somewhat limited, but better then most I'm sure. If anyone wants to hang out and show me around I'd def. be up for that. Any other advice/pointers would be cool.. let me know guys..

Powerbook Ti 1ghz, Evo MK-425C, Live 4 baby, and Evo X-Session, oh yeah.. and this thing called a Dual 2ghz G5.
check the following clubs:
Point Ephemere near the Jaures Metro
Nouveau Casino, near Parmentier Metro
RexClub, near metro bonne nouvelle
Triptyque, near metro grand boulevard
those are the clubs with the better music program, with various events
you can also try the batofar, but unfortunately most of the time it's not really friendly anymore.
i hope this helps...

i will check out that user group, and thanks for the websites. Are there any clubs where I can find big euro names? I've heard of le queen but it seems to cater to the gay crowd, unless I'm wrong?
thanks so far..

regarding the queen, unfortunately it's not what it used to be, music used to be good there when it was a gay place, but that was untill the early 90's... anyway it actually depends on the sound you are looking for, in there it might just be eurodance or very comercial house music.....I've heard of le queen but it seems to cater to the gay crowd, unless I'm wrong?

I made a similar post about a year ago in preparation for a trip I made to Paris with my girlfriend in April 2005. I didn't really get any suggestions from my post, so you're doing pretty well with this one!krikor wrote:check the following clubs:

In Paris one night we were determined to go dancing. So I dug up what information I could from the French newspapers and we walked from our hotel near the Etienne-Marcel metro to a neighborhood called the Borse. There we found a club called Pulp. It was pretty much a younger kids dance club, but we fit in well enough. It was great. The DJ was really on and the crowd really appreciated him. The mix started out sort of electro-new-wave and got more and more house as the night went on. We danced for a couple hours and it was a blast.
On the 'cool' meter I'm sure Pulp isn't the greatest, but we loved it.
I highly recomend the hotel we stayed at. It's called Hotel Tiquetonne located at 6 rue Tiquetonne. Seriously the cheapest hotel in Paris! I'm not a hotel snob, but I know a dive when I see it, and this place is not a dive. It was really nice. The neighborhood it's in gets a bad rap, but it's a great nieghborhood. The best restaurants are right on the same block as the hotel. There is a bar around the corner called Le Tambour that has the best vibe in the city, and they'll serve you an amazing French meal at 2AM. Definitely go to Le Tambour for a drink or a late nite meal.
yeah pulp is nice, but programation is not always at top, Dj chloe is a resident there, she is a very good dj, it used to be the hypest club in town a few years ago, i would say if you wan to spend a good evening go on wednesday or friday, thursday might be to crowded as it is the famous nite but the kill the dj and no dancing please parties are really nice... saturdays are girls only, as it is at the basis a gay club.
You can also try to check if there is parties happening in the squat "la generale" in bellevile (near the metro), i don't know the exact adress, maybe "rue du capitaine"...

That explains why that French dude offered me a lick of his lollypop (yes, the candy) on the dance floor. It was a friendly enough gesture, but I turned him down. It also explains why the female bartender gave me a bit of attitude.saturdays are girls only, as it is at the basis a gay club.
Don't get me wrong though, you hear sometimes about how the French are rude people, etc... That wasn't our experience at all. We just went there not being able to speak much French at all, and everyone we enountered were total sweethearts to us. The key is just being polite. If you just keep that in mind the French will treat you like family.
We went to Pulp at like 1AM on a Wednesday or something. Such a blast! I miss your city very much peeddrroo + krikor!

I think we paid 50 euros a night. We had a private bathroom + no TV. I think if we had a little more Parisan finese we could have stayed there for less $$. If you have a French speaking friend maybe have them call and make the reservations and if possible have them help you check in. You definitely have to make reservations though. They're always full and most of the patrons are French.
