hardware: anything by behringer, exept the items where there is actually no sound travelling through... the midi controllers are OK-ish

software: anything ever made by steinberg, got what a nightmare just thinking of it.

A Behringer VMX-400 mixer!!! 8O

It's the worst shit I ever had music coming from. SO MUCH FRIGGIN' NOISE!
Bought it for 80€, intended just for small house parties... now I'm selling it (a month later) for 75€. But honestly, I feel bad for the dude who's buying it...

I had a 1st version of the behringer dual-compressor in a 1-unit rack. That thing was sooo nasty and evil when pushed, that I got another one, a never revision model... Apparently they had "fixed" the circuitry, so that the compressor retained none of the bite, and all of the sucky SNR. Go figure.
mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.

[quote="CWoodOne"]1.) Focusrite Sapphire
2.) M-Audio Firewire 410

... i agree, but what are your reasons?
I was appauled by the amp simulation on the saffire, and the reverb could only be used for monitoring purposes! You couldn't actually record any of the units reverb into software!
I like the idea that an external, bus powered card could do loads of tricky, but this was awful.

hardware:
--the terrible terrible no-brand guitar amp I had in high school
--more recently, what turned out to be a basically non-functional m-audio midisport audio interface, which has put me off m-audio altogether

software: at the moment I'm pretty irritated by the constant crashing of my native instruments xpress keygoards when I try to use them in live.

1. The roland mc-50 sequencer i bought about 10 years ago, it was limited in features but complex to use, and expensive for the little features it offered.
2.Yamaha psr 420 keyboard,If i where to compare it's sounds to the libraries of my virtual instruments, i'd be embarrased to have it in the same room, i think it would make a good gift for someone i don't like.
3. Akai Quodcomp, bought about 2 years ago and doubt i'll ever use it.They advertise it to be transparent but it's not, it has to be one of the worst compressor plugins i've ever heard.
4.dod G7 guitar effect processor, no soon as i bought it they discontinued it, and it sounds like crap. back in the days anybody who worked in a music gear store could talk me into buying anything, and this unit is evidence of that.

I bought a m-audio omnistudio usb soundcard about 2 years ago.
That was so huge and limited, there where a million routings possible, but you couldn´t even route a different signal than the master out to the headphones, so it was useless for Dj use. Piece of crap, send back and got a terratec phase26 usb wich worked like a charm for my use, small usb powered and rock solid.

Greetings

it looks like behringer gets the highest votes of *crap gear* alltogether...
no wonder, you usually get what you paid for.

Soundblaster AWE 64, what a joke, there was more noise on the input than a hi-gain Mesa Boogie guitar amp with the gain full and the lead touched to your finger!! Come to think of it, anything from Creative has always sucked technical ass, ha ha.

Some weird Jackson Pre-amp I had for my guitar. Every other day it would short it's fuse, 5 trips to Jackson never got it sorted properly.

Has to be the Ensoniq ars-x sampler workstation. I saved up for ages to buy one of these or an Akai MPC2000 i decide on the ensoniq. Little did i realise that it was rubbish and that the company was going down the pan and they never fixed any of the bugs in it. What a fool i was lost loads of money on this.

Reason 3.0 !

I got it the same time I got Ableton Live 4.0. I still haven't learned how to use Reason. With all the advanced stuff I have learned in Ableton so quickly I just can't justify spending so much more time trying to learn Reason.

Head on over to http://q2.teche.net/hq/index.php and download some free refills. then rewire reason into live.

Reason is a blast. Dont sleep on it.
