Bug report: Mackie Control display bug

Post by johnpitcairn » Tue Feb 07, 2006 2:06 am

Symptom: After a track volume change (using the MC faders), Live may fail to re-send the appropriate LCD display data for the current device view.

Reproducibility: Occasional. I can usually reproduce after about 30 volume tweaks of the same track, on average.

Workaround: adjust the same track's volume again using the MC - Live should correctly restore the LCD view. Works for me, YMMV.

To reproduce:

1 - Using the default (empty) song, add an autopan plugin to the Audio track. The autopan plugin is used as an example, any device view should exhibit the bug.

2 - Enter device view using the MC. The LCD screen displays the relevant autopan parameters/values.

3 - Tweak the audio track volume level using the MC fader. The display briefly switches to display volume data, then switches back to device view.

4 - Repeat step 3, pausing to allow the display to switch/restore the device view each time. Eventually, Live will fail to restore the device view to the LCD.

If anyone can confirm this on Mac OS X, please do, thanks...

I think this is a problem with the mackie rather than live , at least in my experience . . .

Sometimes the faders seem to think theyre being touched for some reason and thus display the track data instead of the chosen device data . . .

Thanks, I'll check that out, but I can reproduce it with touchless faders under MC emulation, and by observing the MIDI data Live sends back to the controller, it's apparent that Live is sending the volume screen when it receives fader data, but is sometimes failing to send the restored device screen when fader data ceases.
