Configuring Ableton Live for M-Audio Firewire 410
Configuring Ableton Live for M-Audio Firewire 410
I have been completely unable to get Ableton to let me configure different audio tracks to output to anything other than the default 1/2 output pair. When I select "Ext Out" for "audio out to", the dropdown listbox only lists "1/2", "1" and "2". I have the "M-Audio FW 410 multi DX" audio output device selected in the preferences and left it enabled for both mono and stereo.
HELP!

Jeff

I had already turned on the outputs for both mono or stereo operation. Also, Ableton doesn't find the M-Audio ASIO drivers. It only sees the DX and Wave interfaces for the interface. Sigh...
I sadly think that I've figured out that Ableton does not support the ability to use more than one single stereo channel pair for output on ANY audio interface since I tried a Focusrite Saffire interface (8 outs also) and the same thing happened. For any one live session, it seems to only be possible to use a single stereo output channel pair. In fact, I can't even get it to use anything but the first pair (1/2) for any interface. I can change the selected output to a different pair in the audio properties and still all of the audio tracks only list 1,2 and 1/2 when I select Ext Out for output routing.
What's the deal? I want to send each audio track out to a SEPARATE audio output channel.
Thanks in advance for any additional info or confirmation of what I think I've discovered about Abelton Live restrictions.

Like freshdrumma said, you have to activate the various outputs that should be available to you in the prefs window.
But if your ASIO drivers aren't getting recognised by Live, there is a problem there - and that's probably why LIve isnt seeing the outputs.
maybe you need to re-install the FW410 drivers/software?
