I just setup my triggerfinger using the info in that thread yesterday and it worked, all you need to do is turn on mackie emulation for the device you are using, hit the note values and voila, nothing else is needed.
Only thing I can't get working is channel faders, everything else works.
Explain what you are doing, what device you are using to send midi notes etc.. and maybe we can see what you are doing wrong.

Make sure 'remote' if turned on for the triggerfinger under devices.
Also one thing that may be messing you up is some of the presets in the TF are transposed, so a C4 may be a C5 even though the display still says C4, hit memory recal+prgm/bank change to go to edit mode and make sure when you turn slider F1 up/down that is says 0 (Zero) so it's not transposed.

This is how I did it exactly:
Open preferences, go to midi/sync tab, make sure 'remote' is on in input section for the device you want to use (Triggerfinger, keyboard etc..)
Bottom of same dialog, select 'Mackie control' for 'control surface' and trigger finger or whatever device you want to control Live with as 'Input' and same for 'output'
Now hit D6/D#6 for left/right and C6/C#6 for up/down, F4 for open/close browser, d4 for tab between arrange/session etc.. as the chart on the thread says, make sure you hit hard so you get full velocity, on the triggerfinger you can just hit the full/lock velocity button so display says 'FULL'
Thats all I had to do.

I did the same thing with my XSession controller. You may have to back out of the program and come back in. Also, make sure that Live isn't open when you're programming your controller either.
My problem is that w/ the MCP on, some of the other controls are doing crazy stuff. The only thing I can think of is to reprogram all of the controls and test to make sure it's not effecting some other parameter.
Has anyone else had the same issue?
