[OT] Smoking ban in the UK

i quit in september.... i started again at new year

i'm shit, i know. Going to give it another go when the ban comes in. It was drinking that led me back to the fags

btw I was in the Arches last December.... nice place, but I wonder how they are going to get the smoking ban to work in there. The only exist I seen was out the front under the archway. You're not going to get a few hundred people standing out there.... yiz'll probably get a beer garden for that place, maybe out of a disused car-park or something.

Another bad point, you can smell everybodies 'overdosing' of perfume and aftershave. You'd be surprised how many people still wear 'old spice', hehhe!

I'd rather they banned non-electric cars, and I think it'd have more of an effect on most people, but WTF do I know.

As long as I can still smoke outside and at my own place, I suppose it's OK.

Haha, like it will stop smokers from smoking, we have freaking skulls and crossbones and YOU WILL DIE HORRIBLY on cigarette packs and people smoke just as much as they allways did.

If they finally get smoking totally banned you think it will stop there? no, then the complainers will find something else to be offended by.

That is exactly what happens. It has been that way in Oregon for a bit now. At least in Eugene. Big canopies and propane outdoor heaters all around.

If any of you Brits want to profit off of this you might want to start selling canopies and outdoor heaters to clubs because they will all need it.

I enjoy a smoke here and again but have always disliked tobacco smoke inside. That's so Nasty.

It's not about "can the government tell you what you can and can't do with your body."

It's about how irresponsible actions of selfish individuals affect others, from passive smokers in public places, to their own familes, to an overburdened health system.

We have a new ad here on the BBC. It's about a 38 year old mother, soon to die from lung cancer. You should hear what her 17 and 11 year-old daughters have to say (when they're not crying) about losing their mother. The mother is selfish enought to say, "I gambled, and I lost."

No... she gambled and her daughters lost. It doesn't get any more selfish than that.

Mohamed - I agree with you. Voluntary obesity is just as self-centered and selfish as tobacco abuse.
