MIDI triggers
Is there any way to change the way Live responds to certain midi signals? For instance, I would like to assign one of the buttons on my midi controller to a low kill on an eq. Right now, when I press the button, it sends out a "midi on" message for as long as the button is pushed down, and then sends a "midi off" message when the button is released. Live treats it as if pushing the button once turns the loq eq kill on, then pressing it again turns it off. How can I change it to the other way? Thanks!

the kill switches or whatever on an eq3 are not continous controllers. and when you say how do you do it the other way around, you mean how do you make it so its always off and hitting it turns it on? or change it so its only off while you hold the key down?

What MIDI controller do you have? I've got a BCR2000 and doing what you are talking about is relatively painless. The setup has everything to do with your controller and nothing to do with Live except assigning the button to the kill switch on the EQ.
You can set up buttons on the BCR to be momentary (on only while you are pressing the button) or toggle (press once for on, press again for off). I'm not clear which type you want, or even if your controller buttons have that option.
You probably know this but, in terms of cc values for buttons, 0 is off and 127 is on. On the BCR you set the 2 cc values of the button to 0 and 127 (which is the default). If you ever want to make the button behave in the opposite way (push for off instead of on) just reverse the values to 127 and 0.
Hope this helps.
