http://www.archive.org/details/movies

Lots of open source, copyright free, and copyright expired movies there. I kinda have a thing for really old movies, so it's a great site to download free and legal films at, too!

if there was only a way to rip audio from a movie source. Hmmm.... (Scratches Head)

everything that can be heared can be recorded. moody, if youre on win you can select wave/mp3 in sounds and audio devices/advanced, if your sound card supports that, if yuore on mac im not sure how to do that yet, but anyway you can always wire your soundcard out to its line-in

I use wiretap on my mac to record all my audio samples from movies. It's free shareware and records any sound on your computer.

Anybody know where the sample came from on the Mesiah - There is no law record?

The year is 1999....

There are tons of great open-source copyright-free sites. Google around.

The problem with sampling soundtracks from many current movies is copyright violation. If it's for your own personal bedroom hobby use, you're probably OK. A pro wouldn't touch it, though, without permission from the rightful owner.

When I samped movies, I rented them, watched on the lapton with Live running and ready to record, clip by clip. It took about six hours to go through a film, name and tidy up the samples and consolidation them.

You can use VLC media player to transcode just about anything (DVD, internet streams, movie files).

http://www.videolan.org/

After opening your DVD or file, go to the wizard option under the File menu. Select "transcode/save to file" and choose various audio settings. It'll take some playing around (look for a tutorial) because it's not completely straightforward, but it's solid and free.
