Help Me Please!!!

Im trying to record a mixtape. I have instrumentals its just that i don't know how to import them on to live 4.0 or 4.1 to record over them. can you do this. i just got this program today so i don't know much but i sat for hours trying to figure it out. can someone anyone please help me out. the instrumentals are on my windows media player and also in a shared folder. when i try to click on them to bring them to live it says Error occured while reading "the songs name and location of it on the computer", apparently, the document was created by a more recent , and imcompatible version of live than this. what does that mean and what can i do to get it to work. thank you for the help if any.

what format are your files (wav, mp3, etc)?

If they are wav, or Aif you can just use your Live browser and browse to them. If not convert whatever it is to wav or aif. Then from Live browser drag them into set. Then edit. With Live 5 you can import mp3s Flac and Ogg as well.

they are both wav and mp3. i should turn them into sif file then right? thank you so much for the help i aperciate it greatly!!

Live 4 should be fine with WAV's, if not ask the abes.
