bug with arcdev et-100 plugin

Post by angrysow » Thu Feb 23, 2006 5:54 am

First, Hello everyone, I'm Max, I just upgraded my live 2 to live 5, and I think it's brilliant.

This bug relates to a plugin made by arcane device for windows called the et-100, it's a simulation of a bucket brigade style delay, heres a link :http://www.device.arcanedevice.com/?dubMe=sig%20mod
Basically, when I first load a project containing this plugin, everythings fine, the project works, we're good. But if I try to load a second project containing this plugin ableton chugs away, locks up, assaults my hard drive, and crashes. The only workaround I have found is to first make a new set, or load a set that doesn't contain the plugin, and then load the set containing the et-100.
I find this dissapointing since it is such a unique plugin and I use quite frequently in my projects.
Though I understand a bug of this nature would be relatively low on the priority list for fixes, I thought I'd let you know about it.
This bug appears in 5.03 as well.

My other host is flstudio, and it works fine there.

If anyone has any other suggestions for fixing this, let me know.

I'm running a compaq v2000z with an amd turion ml-32 proccessor and asio4all drivers, though this bug also appears when I use my motu 896.

Can you tell me if you have the problem when you install the plug-in into two different tracks as well?

yes, the problem manifests itself no matter how many or few tracks I have. On further investigation it appears that when the et-100 (or 200 which was just released and has the same engine) is used in ableton, the plugin is never removed from memory. I watch the size of ableton in memory grow every time I load a project containing either of those plugins (I'm watching it from the windows task manager). Eventually it reaches around 290 mb in memory and ableton gives me a message saying that live has encountered a serious program error.

Interestingly, it looks like live is able to unload the plugin from memory if I load a project which doesn't include it. Perhaps this is a feature, but it doesn't seem to work properly with the et-100 or et-200.
