Mapping one input to multiple actions.

Post by Nihilgasm » Thu Feb 23, 2006 9:11 am

For example, I want to midi-map one button on my midi controller to toggle six things on and off and launch a clip. Just from that one button.

For example, I want to midi-map on slider on my midi controller to affect the volume of three tracks at once.

Yes please! C'mon Ableton, give us some real MIDI functionality here!

- 1 controller to many parameters
- Ability to bypass MIDI learn and enter controller numbers manually

Are these really too difficult to implement that you have excluded them from 5 (and 5.2)?

Adding new features takes time, it's incredible how much ableton has accomplished with versions 4 and 5, all Live needs is extra midi flexibility. Ableton makes midi easy.

A comprehensive mapping menu to assign multiple keystrokes to one midi switch/fader ... will be the next step, hopefully on version 6.

Of course it takes time to add new features, but it seems MIDI features are towards the end of the priorities list. Ableton has already added Control Surface functionality to Live, which supports the DAW side more than the Live side, don't you think? By the way, adding the 1 controller to many parameters actually requires removal of code rather than an addition. Just remove that warning message and that's it!

As a user I want this... badly!

As a developer I think I would be totally confused over what to do about control feedback :? (think about it tonight instead of counting sheep :) )
