more detailed CPU usage statistics

Post by treaclle » Wed Feb 01, 2006 9:23 pm

hi everyone!

just thought it would be cool to be able to double click on the cpu load meter and get a break down of exactly how much each plug is contributing to the overall cpu usage. that way u can instantly and automatically see which tracks are causing the most strain on the computer and therefore which tracks would be the most useful to freeze first. how many times have i frozen a few tracks only to find it doesn't make much difference because i've managed to pick the least processor intensive ones? doh!

anyway, yeh, good idea? bad idea? can anyone think of a slick manual way of doing this until it's implemented?

cheers y'all.

peace,
alex :)

Unless it's a totally new plugin I useually know exactly which plugins are cpu hogs, if you know your plugins you know what parameters cause them to use more cpu, like a softsynth how much polyphoni are you using, how many oscilators are the sound using etc.. it's pretty easy to figure out in most cases imo.
