M-audio 410 questions

Post by Jamm » Tue Sep 23, 2003 10:29 am

I want to keep this topic up to date!

Anyone is rocking the firewire 410 already.(macusers)

My main instrument is a Tibook 500, live/reason

Can i still use as many tracks in live as with the Tibook native audio interface?
Is a RME ps2 or echo dj interface interface mayby faster, latency, ENZ..

How is the sonic quality of the 410?

Any suggestions, new idea's or experiences are welkom.

I took the plunge and got one. Arrived yesterday (although I had been promised it for the weekend to play with).

Am using G4 iMac and 667 Ti

Have only had time to check it works for playback with the iMac.

Everything fine so far. All working fine. Able to send different tracks to different outputs and prelisten to its own output. It feels like a great step up from the iMic and seperate midi bix that I have been using :)

Will be fiddling more tonight and over the next few weeks.

Haven't tried it with a decent speaker sytem yet so can't comment on the sound quality - headphones sounded good though.

Cheers

Hi guys,
I’m new to Ableton Live and I have also just purchased the M-Audio 410.
I am having a problem with the Audio in the preference tab.

My problem...

When I open up Live an error comes up. It says ’’Audio is
disabled. Please choose an audio output device from the preference Audio
tab. This version of Live will only work with the hardware device it came
with.’’
When I do go to preference in Live and bring up the Audio tab, nothing
shows up in the drop down box. I have a new 17’’ Powerbook with OSX
and I was under the assumption that the powerbook already came with a
device driver. Do have to buy CoreAudio, Soundmanager, or ASIO.
I’m new to software like this and it’s confusing me a bit. Help me!

Thanks in advance!!!

Dereck

If you are using the bundled version that came with the 410 then this is an old bundled version that will only work with the delta 410 card. They will be releasing a compatible bundled version - details on the faq pages at http://www.m-audio.com/support/FAQ/fw41 ... ooting.php

Thanks Nick! It would have taken me a while to see that!
Should I just get Live 2.0. or will it still have a problem recognizing
the 410 interface. I wanna hear something. I also have a demo version
of Live 2. Would it work better than the bundled Delta 1.5 version?

The demo of 2 from the site should work fine, but you won't be able to save your sets. (or try the beta of 3 and you can save stuff for a couple of days)

There seems to be a deal to buy live cheap from the cards included in the documentation with the 410, once you have bought the full version it should work with any hardware that is compatible (I'm using it with 2 at the moment in Mac os X)

Can you monitor the audio from the 410 headphone jack?
The Demo version is working and I can hear the Browser files, but only
through the output of my laptop. Can I get it to play back from the 410
headphone jack? I have a Triton and the 410 picks it up perfectly but I
can’t seem to get live to play it out. In other words, I hear the Triton
through the 410 headphone jack but not live. Is there a setting in
preference I’m missing...

Yes you can select the monitoring(=headphones) output in the preferences.
