Its narrow mindedness when someone just decides thy want a Mac because someone else said they are better.

Or Just decides to get a pc because they dont like mac's, even though theve never been on one.

I didnt say its narrow mindedness not to own both.
i didnt say anything about free stuff, i made a simple statement, and you read it all wrong.

Are you sure its not yourself that is LOST Digi V??????

this is 'computer' music, the more power your system can handle, the more you can get out of your system.

That is why a lot of mac users seem to be upgrading to the mac book pro, is it not? to have 4 times the POWER.

Sound on Sound is one of the most respected and worthwhile magazines in the world, he ran tests to test the all new centrino back then, and was suprised with the results, so was I.

If a computer can do something simple like being able to run 60% more plugins, then it will be able to hadle 60% more everything.

i bet you can get 50 or 60 from an up to date centrino (i dont know because im not sad enough to try it) and 60-70 out of a mac book pro.
70 -80 from a Napa PC when they come out.

i dont think the point was about a system being 100 percent crash free.

overload any system and it will crash.

the point was that OSX was more stable than Windows

which it is, hands down.

Wait, there's a point?

The fact is, you're all wrong. Horsepower isn't important. Macs aren't as good as Windows boxes. Windows boxes aren't as good as Macs. Horsepower is essential.

Nothing is true. Everything is permissible.

can you explain WHY osx is more stable than windows - Hands Down.

I think that they are just as stable as each othern windows XP SP2 that is.

Can you also explain if this is the case why threr seem to be more people in these forums with mac problems, as apposed to windows problems?

You have completly missed my point, which is

1.)Apple cannot keep up with technology advances, they break the barrier, then fall behind. its a repeating cycle.

2.) If windows was availiable on a Mac, Apple would sell more machines.

3.) If OSX was available for the PC, OSX lovers like yourself can keep up to date with the technology.

I have NOT made a comparison, said one is better or anything like that, apart from saying that the G4 is too far out of date. It is for this reason alone that i didnt buy a mac 4 months ago.

In 4 months time, the Mac Book Pro will be well out spec'ed buy many pc manufacturers like Fujitsu Siemens, HP, Sony Vaio, and Acer.

Thats the way it is.

DIGI V, your views are so biased, without real facts, narrow minded and ultimately unnecesarily agressive, and ignorant that you're not doing apple a favour in terms of publicity. You have not said 1 reasonable, kind word in all your posts. And your info is sooooo outdated.
Turn up the radio. Turn up the tape machine. Look into the sunset up ahead. Roll the windows down for a better taste of the cool desert wind. Ah yes. This is what it's all about. Total control now.

Because that's the bias you view the forums with.

Possibly, ill try and make extra sure that i am not biased, by counting.
I cant answer that one.

What IS good about Macs is you can only run OSX on their machines, Which are very good, and reasonably priced when compared with PC's of equal specs.

The PC has so many manufacturers that its so easy to go out and buy a cheap & crap laptop with a high spec. You need to spend more, to get more, but be carefull you dont buy more crap (PC World springs to mind)

I reccommend Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook. Solid.

I dont recommend Evesham, Packard Bell, or Easys. Friends of mine all thought they would buy cheap PC's and have performance Power.

i dont have to post nor site information. you want it do it yourself. theres no need for me to, in the end you'll have to find out for yourrself. i can go and post articles left and right blah blah but that proves nothing until you do your own research. this isn't a school paper.

for god sakes just do google searches and you'll find em. not hard.

again wllxon you are missing the point.

apple technology was usually outdated because of speed, cpu increases. this is not the case anymore. months from now macbooks will still be on par with current speeds. what cant you comprehend about that?

OSX as an operating system UPDATES more frequently than Windows XP. not to mention WINDOWS XP is an outdated operating system.

i'm not being agressive and everything i'm saying is shared by top industry leaders as well.

when vista is finally released and contains elements that are already seen in both OSX and Linux i bet some of you guys will say microsoft came up with it wont you? you'll say they are leaders, innovators huh?

i cant wait to see it.

p.s tompson please dont spit out elementary nonesense "your arguments are void of facts" cuz in such a debate as this nothing can be held as facts nor will they be even if you push for it.

The closest to an iBook/PB I've come in build quality was the Thinkpad, and I've worked with an assload of laptops over the years. And while I do like the Thinkpads, especially when running Linux, I'd still take a PB over one anyday.

It just feels like a rock. The Dells I've owned have all eventually started to flex and come apart. The Inspiron I have right now actually makes the Windows "device disconnected" sound when you pick it up or put it down, because something's coming loose....

.
Agreed - but only while Intels Napa Chip is still current. Intel released the Sonama 12 months ago, They will do the same next year.
Will Apple reinvent the Mac Book Pro just to keep up?
Digi V wrote: tompson please dont spit out elementary nonesense "your arguments are void of facts" cuz in such a debate as this nothing can be held as facts nor will they be even if you push for it.
Fact: G4 is years out of date.
Fact: MacBook Pro sets a new standard on portable power
Fact: Intel are making MacBook Pro processors.
Fact: chip is called Napa
Fact: PC's will have the same chip in next couple of months
Fact: The Sonoma Chipset is Still shit hot.
Fact: Digi V is full of giberish and crap.
Fact: Apple do probably make the best build quality laptops. just not frequently enough.
Fact: i have not said that either system is better than the other.
Fact: i was also looking to buy a mac.
Fact: PC was definatly best choice at the time, macbook pro best choice at the moment.

wllxon- when microsoft themselves target their market to update every 3 to 4 years...

if you read reports from everyone inclduing early beta testers they will all agree vista is implementing things linux and osx already had for years.

examples you say? graphical user interface, search engine

connectivity, etc.

my jumbled mess, i apologize, i'm tired. i just meant that when people see Vista they'll think "oh damn thats fresh" cuz they haven't seen anything new in a long time.

i know the yonah tops out at 2.3 ,merom is already stated to be released late 4th quarter to early 07.

apple switched to intel because of its roadmap.

why wouldn't they upgrade when intel does? thats asinine.

EDIT: i am very tired but i'll keep posting articles as i find them.

Okay... It is true that PC's have more plug-ins. But... I have used Windows platform for 20 years. I just switched to the Mac 4 years ago.. I must say that until Vista comes out. Mac OSX ios more stable and "Just works" You can even surf the internet with confidence.

Be that as it may... I use both Mac and Win. I use only Live!!!!!!

I make audio dramas for the internet so I have to mix voice, music, sound FX etc.
