could someone give me a heads up or does it mean my next upgrade is version 6?

heres an idea if your going to pay for the upgrade 'subscription' why not subcribe for 2, 3, or 5 years worth of 'subscriptions' and then you are entitled to a sliding scale of payment.

2 year subscription = 100 euros.

3 year subscription = 90 euros.

5 year subscription = 80 euros.

plus if you buy the software complete [full package] you get your first year upgrade [subscription] free.

because come lets face it the last three years have cost me 129 euros per year. to own live. i should just as well open a direct debit.

now i dont want to open a big shit throwing thread. does that not sound like an idea. it keeps money coming to ableton and keep loyal customers happy.

that looks too much like Waves WUP, which is extremely unpopular.

i know alot of folks that skipped the v.4 upgrade and upgraded from v.3 to v.5
why not just buy the upgrades that you feel are most worth it for your needs, like those people did?

im not having a dig at ableton - its just there has been a reason to upgrade in each version. some bigger reasons than others.

i did not think you were.

just saying the subscription thing is quite unpopular with the majority of software users who have it as an option (read: Waves WUP). kinda like how dongles are unpopular.

Subscriptions are good only for software makers

I think that being DAW users a subscribe fee is to be avoided at all times.
Ableton has a good sales model as today, I won't touch it.
Some releases are less good than others, so you maybe spend money in advance and get almost nothing in return. What should be done, as today is that patch releases come at no charge for the owners.

my 2 cents
Mac Studio M1
Live 12 Suite,Zebra ,Valhalla Plugins, MIDI Guitar (2+3),Guitar, Bass, VG99, GP10, JV1010 and some controllers

im not saying its should be only upgrade option. if you want to you can do. its your choice and your risk and your discount.

anyway before it goes to far - whats in 5.2 for non intel / dual core users.
