Bezier curves automation envelopes

Post by monkeybrainsushi » Thu Dec 15, 2005 11:36 am

I would really love to be able to draw automation envelopes using bezier curves (you know the basic Adobe Illustrator curves... smooth... ) along with Wacom tablet support.

Oh yes - longing for some curves. It's a real time waster having to draw in clumsy (in my case) approximations by hand.

Especially useful in lighting for fades-ins and -outs, which are rarely linear and vary with different bulbs. To be able to loop a lighting fade-in/out clip while moving Bézier handles with a MIDI controller until a linear fade is achieved would be fantastic.

Also useful for ease-ins and -outs for moving lighting fixtures, animations and beat-matched video effects.

I'm all for it.

Right click, Copy/paste of selected automation would be nice too.

If you could switch between the different automation parameters via rightclick, menu and submenus would be really helpfull too.
I like rightclick, I liked it in tracktion and now miss basic righclicking in Live, but 5 is the first version and I hope we´ll get better workflow in the next upgrade.
Shortcuts are only a workaround, as you always need to move 2 arms or at least one hand, move between the mouse and keyboard and so on. Righclick is faster and the best I think would be an "intel" tablet "pc" with a pen.
That would be awesome, but a bit pricey for the moment.

Yes, an excellent idea.

And can we add, pressing the CNTRL button whilst dragging the mouse allows finer control of said envelope point.

+ 1000000000000000000000000 :D

yes give us bezier curve (and pre formed waves for LFO) and multicolored envellope at the same time in the same clip / arrangement view (to see more than only one parameter at the same time).

and give us a better groove/quantize control it will be great ....

(and if you could look after better UAD-1 support about the little GUI trouble i notice)

pleaze, pleaze, pleaze....and i will fly like an angel
