Post by ciaran r » Tue Feb 28, 2006 10:16 pm

Hi All

I am looking for a new laptop to use ableton with. I also would need the laptop
for documents IE Word, but not loads of documents.
Is it also possible to use the internet, Ie emails, messenger with ableton-would it affect the performance.

I have looked at the mac ibook, book pro.
the ibook has only a small screen though

I woud say if you're gonna get a Windoze machine get one of those AMD Turion models. They're pretty zippy and they're relatively cheap. And you'll be ready for 64bit OS and apps.(Live 7?) Acer has a few models that are very affordable.

If money is an issue, I'd wait for Intel iBooks to be released. The monitor size may well change with the next generation.... Anyway, this is what I'll do - won't buy until late this year.
